In the first instance, all national athletes and coaches are approved by the Ministry and the Sports Development Foundation.

A national athlete is an athlete identified by the local governing body for that respective athlete’s sporting discipline as an athlete who has met all the qualifying standards to be able to represent Jamaica either regionally or internationally. This athlete would therefore be a member of the national team for that sporting discipline until he/she can no longer meet the qualifying standards.

No registration fee is required.

The Ministry will coordinate with the individual associations/federations to verify the eligibility of each registrant.
